If your switching for safety get a full face helmet, not a modular helmet. The modulars are basically a 3/4 helmet because the chin bar is not safety rated so if you bail face first, it will just break up and cut your face. Hope the man in this vid made it through alright.
I just got Scorpion 900 5 weeks ago. It is a modular helmet and I love it!! It vents great and so far no issues. Doesn't feel heavy at all. Good luck!!
For a full face helmet I wear an Icon Airframe Rubatone. Great for the winter and long hauls on the highway. Spent about $250 on it. Great investment as full helmets go. Light weight, great airflow, and there is a variety of visors in different colors if that is your thing. Plus it comes with a removable Hydra Dry moisture wicking liner that you can through into the wash if it starts to smell. But its all about how the helmet fits your head and what you like. Best of luck.
I'm using a Bell Vortex. Cost about $180, Snell 2010 and DOT certified. Vents great, fits perfect, and I don't find it to be heavy at all. One of the best features is the quick change mechanism for the face shield. Took me all of 10 seconds to swap between the clear shield and the tinted shield. I highly recommend it. It helps to know what shape your dome is so you can get the right type of helmet for it. Makes a huge difference.
