I've worn AGV FF for 25+ years. Last year bought a K3 for my daughter and it was significantly lighter than the 2 older models I was still using. I didn't care for the K3 graphics but AGV then brought out the K4 Evo and I'm very happy with mine. Very light weight, good airflow and the simplest shield replacement mechanism ever. Solid colors only, black, flat black or white...$219 from MC Superstore.

I got a HD modular, it was around 250. It's slightly on the heavy side but not too bad. I've worn it for 150 mile ride and it started to strain my neck a little (keep in mind I sustained a serious neck injury last year that I'm still recovering from).
My only advice is to go modular, very nice to be able to open up the face when you're stuck in traffic.

I ended up going with the Ball Star Carbon which is a pricey lid but very comfortable and great venting. Also DOT and Snell 2010 rated. I originally looked at Bell helmets because of the visor that is made by the same company that makes the Transitions glasses. I didn't want to have to keep swapping out shields. I was leaning towards the Bell Vortex which goes for about $169. It was also comfortable and had the DOT and Snell 2010 ratings but I liked the Star better. It fit my head better and was more comfortable. The transitions face shield fits the Bell Vortex, RS1 and Star helmets.

I also tried some HJC, Scorpion (a buddy of mine wears the Scorpion), and a few other brands.

Dude, thanks for the nightmares. Do you have any data to backup your claim concerning the modular helmet? I know, there aren't any SNELL rated modulars out there as of yet but that doesn't mean all full face helmets are SNELL rated.

What I'm trying to say here is that if your on the fence between a half or modular, the modular will always provide more protection. They are a middle ground that some riders, that for whatever reason, don't want to be locked into a full face but may need some full face protection in the future for whatever reason - can feel good about buying and using.

30% of all head/helmet initial impacts have occurred on the chin and jaw line.

Back to the OP topic - I have a Bell Revolver EVO, which is a modular. It's just about 4lbs and very comfortable for me. It has a built in retractable UV rated sun visor as well as a full clear shield. I love it, its never felt too heavy or fatiguing for me and is a neat helmet for about 200.

I'm not a sunglass wearer so the push button sun visor is great for me. I'll ride with face up in parking lots and drive ways. Face down, sun visor down on the street under 30mph and shield down anything over. I'ts nice to be able to easily pull the face up at traffic lites to jabber or smoke. Like I said, I like it allot.

Full face or no face, that's my train of thought. I did myself in pretty good being a jackass when I was 18. Wearing shorts, t shirt, and skate shoes, and a full face. I got beat up real bad and only believe I walked away because of my helmet. I grew up in AZ with no helmet law, still would never go without. The thought of landing face first at any speed sends chills up my spine. Anyway enough of my 2 cents. I wear a shoie rf-1000, a helmet is just not something I feel like skimping on. You can live with rash and broken ribs, but from what I understand its hard to recover from a crushed skull.

My buddy wrecked his zx-1 last month.

No helmet! From the impact he is now blind in his right eye and has a scare from one side of his head to the other where he had a crack. He also had broken ribs and road rash of course.

Lucky he lived! But now he has vision in only one eye at 23.

Shoei RF-1100. I like a full-face...great in the rain, keeps the bugs out of my face, vents air amazingly!

HJC FS15 full carbon. Awesome. If you got a $5 head get a $5 helmet.

I wear a Shoei Raid II. It's a European only model and I don't think it was available in the States. It was Shoei's entry level model over here in the UK. I really like it. I bought it in flat black and had it striped.
