Was inspecting my '06 FXDi35 Superglide and found some cracks in the rear tire. They were barely noticeable. However, since I don't want to take any chances and should have less than 500-1000 miles left on the tire, I ordered some Michelin Commander II tires. I'll have my local Indy mount and balance them for me. As soon as I put some miles on them I'll post a review.
Also wanted to give my impressions of the Superbrace I recently installed. WOW! What a difference. It really tightened up the front end. Ethel (named her after my late mom) doesn't seem to follow the grooves in the road anymore. Front end just seems more stable. I never thought the improvement would be so dramatic. I highly recommend Superbrace to anyone who wants to improve the feel of their front end.
While doing my latest inspection, I also noticed my Gremlin Bell was missing. Don't know when I lost it but never-the-less it is gone. The wife says she is going to buy me a new one for my B-day (September 2nd). Guess I'll have to be a cager for the next couple of weeks LOL.
The Commander tires probably had alot to do with eliminating the bike following grooves. My OE Scorchers were bad about that, but when I replaced them with the Commanders that condition went away.
I replaced my Dunlop 402's with the Commander II's a few weeks ago. Got tired of replacing a rear tire 2 times a year and the front every other change. The Commandrs are supposed to get almost twice the life. First thing I noticed was the harder tire compound is not as forgiving in the corners. I would compare the ride and stick to the Dunlop 404 you can by for non-touring.
I put the superbrace on and it improved braking, but it made my front end harsher. It was causing binding/stick-tion in the fork travel. I tried loosening it and re-tightening gradually while fork-bouncing between tightening intervals, but I could not get it to tighten without causing binding. I could hear the point at which the binding started, and it wasn't very tight (much less than the 10-lb spec'ed).
- What did you all do to get your brace on without causing any binding?
- how do you know your brace isn't causing binding?

OK - Open to suggestions on placement. I did not have a lot of option, as I am running a 21 in front and my fender is in the highest position. The Brace was as low as possible, sitting on the fender. It looked to be clamping just below the line where the chrome rings meet the top of the fork lowers.
