Ok...So the local dealer is telling me that in order to do a stage 1 properly, I need a supertuner AND dyno time (and obviously instillation). All in all this whole process Im being told that this will cost around $1000...Didnt really sound right to me so I thought Id ask to see what you all think. And is there a way to tune without the dyno?

$1000 for what he told you to get is correct
It all depends on what you want though. You don't NEED to get it dyno tuned, or a tuner, or the h-d download. It's all about how much money you want to spend.
You could get it done for $500 if you did slip ons/air cleaner/xieds. It just won't perform as well as a dyno tuned full exhaust set up
One of the XiED family of products will come within 90% of the best tune you can get with a supertuner and dyno time, and cost hundreds of $ less
Supplementing the stock exhaust or some slip-ons with Thunder Torque Inserts will yeild a 5-10% increase in Torque across the board.
Sorry to thread jack here but could someone use the outlaw hiflow 587 A/C & one of the XiED family of products with an exhaust like Vance & Hines big shots and be ok or would that require a tuner + dyno time?

That would work. We did one just the other day, a Wide Glide. Pulls very strong. NO tuner or dyno time.
Thanks guys...I already have V&H Big radius 2 into 2 on there, and I've already purchased the Kuryakyn Mach 2 (kinda goin with a skull/bone theme)...bought it just thinking it was a slap on deal with maybe only having to tune. I was totally unaware about the piggyback tuner and dyno...and whats the recommendation on a tuner? The one the stealership wants to sell me is $460...dont remember the name of it.
Its the screaming eagle race tuner for 460. Its what i have now.works good for my current set up. My last 2 bikes i bought power commander from fuel moto with a preloaded map plug and play. Its an easy cheaper way to go and fuel motos maps are pretty spot on. Worth calling them
