Default Dyna Super Glide spring preload adjustment

Hello,
I have a 2007 Super Glide and I recently installed a lowering kit on the back. The preload on the rear shocks is set at 5 and my wife and I did a bike run on Sunday and we bottomed out a few times. I noticed two scratches on my upper belt guard. Do I now need to install different shocks??
Thanks for your reply

I'm not an expert on M/C suspensions, but I'd be careful. I had 11.5" Progressive 440's on my bike. I ride solo and I ride twisties pretty hard, but I'm 170 #'s. I used to bottom out occasionally and then I broke an upper shock bolt 40 miles from home. I had a very scarey ride home w/ my imagination playing out every scenario of breaking one on the other side. I've since gone w/ 12.5" 440's. With the extra inch of travel, I can loose pre-load for a ride that has initial softness but the shocks firm up when required. Haven't bottomed out since making the change, and that makes me very happy.

Removing the lowering kit will solve your problem.

Curious to know why install a lowering kit?

Or just ride solo. Can't have your cake and eat it too.
If you bottomed out you should look at the wiring under the back fender to make sure you didn't rub or break anything.

I lowered it because my wife wants to ride it and her feet were not flat on the ground. Now it's easier to move around and it actually feels lighter because it's lower.

Thanks, that's probably why my right turn signal doesn't work anymore!

ok, thanks. Prolly could have changed the seat without having to muk around with the suspension and gotten the 'lower' foot result. There is always the safety aspect to consider with changing the suspension. Hope everything works out ok.

Thanks Dave,
I think I will take a ride to the Harley shop to see what they recommend today.
