Default SERT or PCV for '07 Street Bob

Alright, I am there... I need to make my choice now... PowerCommander V or the Screamin Eagle Race tuner. I have Vance and Hines Side Shots, Screamin Eagle High Flow Air Cleaner installed. I have 255 CAMs ready to be put in... Now the TUNER... Which one? Please give me your opinion on which one and why? Thanks

I think the SERT is a better tuner for a few reasons.1 it leaves no hardware behind which means you don't have to figure out where to put it and if your bike has a problem a dealer likely won't say it's the cause because it's not there and it's a HD product.Mines an 06 but at that time the SERT had a few more features than the PCV and some said it was more reliable I've heard stories of PCVs loosing the map and having to start over from scratch. Now having said all of that you need to get what ever tuner the guy doing the dyno tuning is the most comfortable with. That's if your going to get it tuned on a Dyno if not get whatever you're most comfortable monkeying around with.My bike was tuned with a SERT six years ago and I haven't had to touch it since.

FYI PCV only supports 08 and up Dyna, I do have PCV on my 07, fuelmoto gave me a canned map, it runs good so far but it needs a dyno tune to get the most out of it.

I also have a FuelMoto PCV installed on my 05
It's been flawless the 3 seasons I've used it - which I can't say for the V&H FuelPak it replaced.

I too chose the SERT for a few reasons, 1 being no need to try and hide another box on an already cramped frame, 2 being universal support....I have yet to talk to an indy shop that doesn't use SERTs, and i had the dealer install the initial map just to eliminate any issues in case of problems after the fact.

Check into the TTS tuner. They were the ones that use to make the SERTS. You can self tune it or have it dyno'ld.

Are these SERTs bought from the dealer or installed at the dealer? Are they dependent on what exhaust and air filter is installed? Not sure how different the SERTs are from say the PCV which is why I am asking.

+1 the TTS has much more tuning capabilities...If you can find a buddy that also needs a tuning device, there is a 2 bike option that knocks the price from $425 to $312. For those that do the pulley change you can also re-calibrate the speedo which you can't do with the SERT or PCV.

They can be bought at a dealer they're not so much "installed" as connected to the bike and disconnected when finished tuning. The main difference is the PCV stays on the bike and the SERT is removed.I'm sure there are canned maps for them made using specific exhausts and air filters but mine was custom mapped on a Dyno for max horsepower and torque with the set up I had. I.E. Thunderheader and Screaming Eagle/K&N filter. The only drawback I see is that there is no "auto tune" feature and you cannot recalibrate the speedo. The TTS wasn't available when I got my SERT and after having a bad experiance with with a DFO I didn't feel like experimenting with any of the "new" aftermarket stuff.
