So some of you may know what the current state of my bike is and others know where it is going, I am planning on blacking out the triple trees over the winter to tie into the 2-tone wheel theme. I also want to replace my headlight though. So my question is in a couple parts.
1. Should I just stick with a 4" or 5 3/4" Bullet style headlight or
2. Would a fatbob style dual headlight be the way to go (i've always liked the look of them)
3. if I chose to do a fat bob would it fit on my stock trees or will they only fit on a wideglide tree setup?
The mid glides look great with a Fat Bob headlight. If it was mine, I'd go that route and have the bucket powdered gloss black along with the trees. Contrast like that would be great!
If you do try the Fat Bob light let us know. Probably (& I don't know) too wide?
Did your FXDL have the visor like the older models? I can't wait to get rid of that & mount my headlight on the fork brackets.
There is a nice (new) 5 3/4" black headlight from BK-Rider for $40.
(edit: if you do change & want to sell that 4" (cheaply) let me know )
Believe my stock headlight is 5 3/4", but no they didn't come with that visor in 06 like the older ones, mine has the idiot lights in a small visor mounted on the risers (hoping to do away with that soon too) I will sell the stock headlight though it is definitely getting changed.
OK. I figured they changed that visor eventually. I'm going to move my idiot lights to the center console. I've seen a few pics of it done here & it seems pretty easy.
Might be best if you sold that OEM headlight on Ebay. Probably get more than I would offer I'll probably just end up w/ BK's 5 3/4's. It's already black powder coated w/ a chrome ring.
I put a fat bob headlight on my FXDS-Conv, bought the complete headlight online for like $315 brand new, the dealer will want like $600 for everything. It's an easy install but the light may be too wide for your trees. Mine already has a softail front end that the guy who had it before me put on so that made for the extra space. Best thing to do is go to the local dealership and find a new fat bob and measure the width of the light vs the trees. Looks robust and sick though for sure. Wish i had an updated pic to post.
