I have a 20007 FXDB. I have V & H Side Shot pipes, V & H Fuel Pak, & an S.E. Air Cleaner. I have S.E. 255cams and was wondering if i can just put them in with new push rods and not get the S.E.R.T yet? Has anyone done this ?
You have the V&H fuel pack, give them a call. Bet it'll work with the bolt in cam, the Dobeck Gen 3 does although I think a more sophisticated tuner would bring out more in the bike.
Personally, after a cam swap, I'd always go for a tuner that lets you adjust the ECU tables directly. The bolt-on units (FP, PC) don't let you make the accurate timing changes that are needed for different cams, for that you need a SEPST, PowerVision, TTS, etc.
Sure, it might work afterwards with a FP but if you have gone to all the cost and bother of new cams then why do a half-assed job?
