I have a 2007 Dyna Wide Glide with Vance & Hines Straightshot HS Slip-on mufflers and Screamin' Eagle Stage 1 air cleaner kit. I have been reading thread after thread about EFI tunning. From my observation the majority of people with Fuelpak problems is due to the modifications. Specificly, more than exhaust and an air cleaner upgrade. My reading/research has also found that if you DONOT use a Vance & Hines exhaust system that is listed in the Fuelpak menu of your particular make and model it will not run correctly. I am trying to decide on $700 dyno tune from an experienced tuner or a $100 Vance & Hines Fuelpak?
Fuel pak is junk. Came already installed when I bought my bike. Ditched it. They make nice pipes but the fuel pak is a complete failure
+1
Most people here that go on and on about how the fuelpak is so great don't even realize that it only works in open loop. In closed loop riding it does absolutely NOTHING. Don't believe me? Call Vance and Hines for yourself.
80% or more of riding is done in closed loop. Why would anyone want to use something that does nothing for your engine when riding down the highway, parkway, or street?
Secret fuel cell numbers? My ***.
If you're someone that thinks the fuelpak is so great, then chances are you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a Harley with one and without one. And I don't mean that to come off as a dick, but it's most likely true.
For someone wanting to spend money on a fuelpak, you'd be much better off waiting to buy a power commander or even some xieds (if you really wanna cheap out) - least the xieds will work in closed loop to bring your afr target down to 13.8.

Buy a used PC-V and get it dyno'd for $250. That's what I did and the bike runs wicked.

There are other choices-
XiED for $99 is something that thousands of people use with great results.
Read more about them HERE.
A step up from there would be a PCV or PowerVision, if you get them from FuelMoto they will supply a map for your configuration, no dyno time needed.
Don't waste the money on ViEDs or XiEDs, yeah they do what the Steve says they do, add fuel- EVERYWHERE- at idle, at de-accel, etc.- very good for adding carbon deposits to valve train . Old Power Commander is good, so is new, but hooks into ECU. If there is a short, adios to the ECU. Fuelpak needs XiEDs to work well in closed loop, WTF. My Dobeck GEN 3 works good all the time, always runs in open loop, adios to narrow band O2 sensors. Maybe a Stage 1 download for changes in open loop timing tables make it run a bit better in hot weather, maybe.
I think if you read what I said about dollar for dollar, the fuel pak is a good solution. Also, I said that there are better option, I use a ThunderMax tuner, which for an 06 model is the best solution, in my opinion. I do not understand what you disagree about.
Just your last sentence TLB. A stock motor is not worth a eight hundred dollar tuner, thats all. Not trying to start a fight.
