Bike continues after losing fob.. stranded!
I never ride with my keys in the ignition or they'd scratch up my tank.
I have gotten to the store and when I went to lock up the bike I realize I'm not even carrying my keys.
My gas cap is under a locked console. What I really hate is discovering you don't have your keys when you pull into a gas station on empty.
Ah, the lessons we learn the hard way.
For the love of God - PLEASE read what my issue here is. I didn't 'forget' the key - it was L.O.S.T. while riding. I didn't 'forget' the code either - it was changed to something more secure than last 6 VIN digits (not by me) & then S.T.O.L.E.N. Ever had anything stolen from you? Guess not. Stick around.. it's fun when it happens. Let's see you 'keep track'.
My issue is that the bike runs happily (i.E without warning) when the fob is removed. That's it. End of. There are a few clued up guys who actually get this, the rest just don't even bother reading anything beyond the first post before commenting. Most cars thesedays with keyless entry & start warn you in a variety of ways when the transponder is out of range. Why not the MoCo? Yes, I should have memorized & practiced the override procedure but in that case why have a cheat card at all? Another way of putting it - why warn me of anything then? Sidestand down? Yes, I can see that myself thanks. Low fuel? Yes, I know thanks...mileage tells me more than the indicator. High beam on? I know thanks.. I switched it on & it's pretty obvious. Get my point? Why then NOT warn me of something pretty damn significant, of which I'm likely to have NO idea?
I'm not bitter, I'm not angry either. But call me stupid & I'll respond.
Rant over..

His key popped out and he didn't realize till the first stop, about 100 miles down the road. He called the rental guy at the dealer and they gave him the code and explained the procedure.
Totally sucked having to input the code everytime he turned off the bike, and make one mistake and you have to start over. It was especially tough for him as it was his first ride with us.
Being the "sensitive" guys we are, that night we nicknamed him "Tony Fobs". The name stuck, and from that point forward everyone now just calls him Fobs.
Fortunately he's a real good guy and handled the situation as well as could be expected. Dealer also Fedex'd him a replacement which arrived on the 4th day of the trip, much to his relief.
