Hello there
I don't think there is such a thing as the best camshaft. There good makes of cams : Andrews, S&S, etc, people quote examples of good cams which they have found to be good for them and they are but will the character of the cam be good for exactly what you want the bike to do. I think its hard to focus on what you actually want/ need out of your motor. There are lots of super star parts out there, but you don't want a super star you want a team of parts all pulling together as a matched set of tuning parts. I would say have a good long talk to some tuners and do your research on the net. Example of a good team of parts are www.head-quarters.com also S&S packages or even screamin eagle packages the list go's on. Its a bit of a stress looking at whats out there but the end results can transform your bike. Look at where the torque is in the rev range and how long it lasts.
Good luck
tbone.

In your opinion i would prefer a cam with an overlap not more than 30% and a lift not higher than 550 to 580.
So you have a good compromise of torgue and speed with stock valves and camdrive, you also don't need Rollerrocker or Highliftvalvesprings then (above 600 it's better to change to Geardrivecams!)
Think about Domepistons that bring your compression to 10.5:1, the best ones are from Wiseco and try Hasting Rings for them.
The flow of the SE Heads is very poor, you need someone who can fixed this Problem.
Also think about a better clutch!

If I have to do this, I'll prefer:

Feuling Reaper 574, Woods Lifter, Andrews EZ Install Pushrods and a really good Enginebuilder who can make your flow and compression better.

Per Andrews the 48H only works with stock compression. It was desgined as a bolt in for the stock engine to make good power with out head work or changing the compression. They have a little more duration than the SE 255 and if I remember right are a little more advanced than the SE255. I can get as low as 55 to 58 mph in 6th and still pull strong when I need to. I have had my 48H cams for over a year and love them.

I went with the SE 255 cams, they are bolt on cams, you do not need to do anything else to the motor other than Stage One and a tune. If you are looking to do more to the motor now or in the future, you may want to go with one that will grow with your future plans. I am happy with mine and the response I got from them, but I have no plans at the moment to do anything more to the motor.

204 or 510 gear drive would be my choice.
