Hey guys I noticed the other day that my front master cylinder was showing signs of a leak.I thought I would check the rear and sure enough the rear master is leaking too.Called my dealer and was told it was probably coming through the vents but to bring it in for them to look it over.Anyone else noticed this on 2012 Dyna's(Mines a Wide Glide)?
I have noticed the same issue on my current bike, my precious super glide and all my friends Harley's. it seems they over tighten the screws from the factory, causing the gasket to protrude from the master cylinder.
Common problem, supposedly fixed now. I have a '10 wide glide and am on my second replacement reservoir cap and gasket. The newest cap and gasket (which I believe is attempt number two or three by HD to fix the issue) I have hasn't leaked yet- knock on wood...
When I re-did my brake fluit I did not over fill and washed the rubber casket in warm soapy water. When dry I carefuly tighten the tops back on evenly and not much torque. No leaks in over a year.
Thanks for the replies,as Stag said it seems to be overtorqed from the factory. The inner side looks to be squished out and kinda deformed while the outer side looks to be ok(no protrusion)on the front.Hell I would fix it but it's still under warranty and my dealers service dept. has done me right on other occasions,I'll just let them handle it.Besides the bike needs a good scrubbin and they always clean er up after any service lol.
Picked up a new cap/seal for the front recently and notice the back leaking now. Seems to be pretty common. I used the loctite blue when I changed the front-no leaks so far.
