Default RE: Toolkit Recommendations

I carry the following in a small H-D tool box that bolts on to my Dyna, located right behind the battery:

1/4 inch drive short handle flex ratchet
1/4 inch drive Torx tools...15T,20T, 25T, 27T & 30T
6 inch Cresent wrench
Small needle nose pliers
Short 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, &9/16 open end set
(1) 6 inch combo screwdriver having interchangable phillips and blade bits

I roll everything up in a shop towel and wrap a large rubber band around the roll and stick it into the toolbox. It just fits in that box.
So far I have not had to use any of the tools, and I hope to keep it that way................pg

Hi
I pick up my Vivid Black07 Street Bob in 4 weeks time and i would like to ask what arethe essential tools to carry?

.................................................. ...........

I guess I just love tools and could not imagine going anywhere without a decent kit.

.................................................. ........................
vespa, the days of NEEDING to carry tools are dead and gone.

I love tools, like you. In the 1960s, my wife sewed big pockets
on the back of my jeans. Even carried an extra master link for the chain.

I like my hog stripped nowadays.

If you insist on tools, a cell phone and some plastic will get you by.

A knife is nice, and compact. My HK p9s is easy to pack.

The new Hds are very reliable.

I couldn't disagree more. I have found numerous uses for a tool kit on the road. Broken saddle bag bracket, fouled plugs, loose passing lamp assembly, burned out turn signals and brake lights. Oil changes on the road, loose highway peg. Leaking primary gasket 1,000 miles from home. I could go on and on about the times that a tool kit has came in handy.

Regards,

Bill

Thanks for all the advice!

I just couldn'tsee myselfgoing without a tool kit.

I like the look of the Windzone kit as it would also do most garage jobs as well as all the tools I have currently are metric.

Found one on Ebay in the US for sale by Eastern Performance Cycles at about $57.00so I haveasked them the important question about shipping to Scotland, fingers crossed!.

I use the Windzone as well. Have carried it on my 2005 Wide Glide religously, and have never needed it.

BUT - I have used it for two of my buddies that had issues while we were on the road. I would much rather have had what I needed on hand, than to use a cell phone and waste half the day for someone to show up for help.

I carry it on the frame, behind the front wheel, in a fork bag. Its compact, out of the way, and it there when I need it (or, for when a buddy needs it).

Got a reply on the shipping costs for a Windzone kit today....$50!, a whole $7 less than the cost of the toolkit.

On the bright side i was in my local dealers West Coast Harley in Glasgow today paying them some more cash towards my Boband noticedthey sell the HarleyCruz tools kit ,doesn't look as comprehensive as the Windzoneand comes in at ÂŁ53, but would be probably be a bit more compact to carry on the bike and would tide me over until my business travelling friend can bring a Windzone from the States.

Cheers!
