Welcome, from the PacNW. I have the HD QD on my wide; sometimes it still seems windy until I remove it and get a dose of the real world. I've thought of going with a taller piece of poly, but came up with a creative alternative. I loosened my fork tube clamps and slid the tubes up further into the trees about 7/8"; just enough for the QD clamp. This allows me to lock the upper cam-lock clamps ABOVE the upper tree, effectively raising my shield about 2" from when I was limited to attaching the 'shield between the trees. Of course, I now have a bigger blast of air coming in under the headlight cut-out of the shield, but the trade-off seems worth it to me. The top of my 'shield is now about eye level, and I can look over or thru it almost unconsciously.
Thanks for the idea PKellyMc! thinking to sell the QD compact it just may be overall too small for my needs and be a great choice for a shorter driver- hello craiglists. The Rile fairing with a 18" shield looks like an alternative since it looks like it slants back creating more of a slip stream and less vortex or the MS batwing although i am concerned it may create too much wind drag and noise. I think too big of a shield and the wind disturbance behind the shield gets worse proportionally as well. Hopefully I can find the solution and be able to hide with a 1/2 helmet. Thanks everyone for your suggestions and welcomes!
07bobber- your setup looks great- Is it a Rifle roadster fairing (non bubble) with the tall shield? You said you can ride easily at 80-85- how tall are you? Time to try another system and sell the HD compact QD shield which is almost brand new. Any takers?
MS Bat wing kit around 525.00- Comments suggest lots of buffeting and lowers are needed
Rifle Roadster- Very cool and with tall 18" shade around 400.00. Is it wide enough to keep the wind off w/o buffetting
Tsukayu Dyna Batwing with Stereo/Speakers- looks like the best fit - Will it worok or be a bufetting machine- Any users out there- would like to get your feedback price around 785.00
