I have been waiting for two weeks form my HD Badlander seat to come off back order. I was extremely excited when the dealership called me today to tell me it was finally here. I rushed home, ate a quick dinner and bolted it on. It looks great BUT when I went for a 30 min ride couldn't stand it. It's too wide up front, too hard, and my butt wants to slide to the rear seat because theres not a deep enough groove. I'm 5'11 and 160 pounds, I have no fat on me so theres no cushion between my but bones and seat. The Corbin seat that the last owner put on it is as hard as a rock and extremely ugly. I'm going to return it to the dealer tomorrow. Any suggestions?
...I guess it doesn't help that my spine in completely jacked up from the Marine Corps
HD dealers have DEMO seats. I tried all of them before deciding on the Hammock seat I ended up getting. I knew what I was getting. I kept each seat for several days.
The dealer I get all my parts from has a demo bike that they swap out the seats to sit on, but not any that you can try out on your own bike for a day or two. They only have 5 seat to try anyway. Besides that, the demo bike is a flipping "van on two wheels". BTW, thats what I call all of the touring bikes that have AC, cup holders, and armrests regardless what company built it.

It also depends on how you feel on looks vs comfort, I tried the badlander, sidekick, and the heritage has a sundowner style harley seat. I also have tried multiple le para seats and now have my fast back. Many seats can looks weird but be comfortable its all about your preference
I would call Ed at Sick Saddles... patiently waiting for my second one of his custom-made seats to arrive at my doorstep. Mine has a gel insert. I ordered the memory foam, this time around, for The Wife's bike.
if your spines jacked you should go for something with a bucket. The sundowners super comfy but definitely not the best looking seat around. I went from stock to the sundowner and now have the mustang vintage with backrest. its lower than the sundowner, sets you back farther, narrower in the front and every bit as comfortable... although both offer all day comfort, my first pick would be the mustang
