Rebuilt my carb with a cv performance kit last night. The kit was great. Easy to install great instructions. After putting it all back together I was left with a little brass part. Dont know where its from if anyone could help identify it I would appreciate the help. I put it next to the idle adjust screw for size comparison. Also saw the previous owner installed a thunderslide. Heard good and bad thibgs about them when it comes to tuning. Any other opinions out there. Thanks.
Hi , if i remember right that brass bushing goes on the carb cover, towards the rear of the carb. simply remove the 4 cover screws (black plastic, or chrome cover) and this bushing drops in then put back te cover and all the screws.
The screw with the spring is your idle screw, pretty sure you knew that.
Thanks for the help guys. Yeah I put the idle screw in there for size comparison. You can imagine the feeling I got when I had a left over part with no clue where it goes. Glad its something that simple.
I had the bushing leftover when I rebuilt mine with the CVP kit. Kind of a sick feeling. Lucky I have a manual and figured it out. Do you have the black plastic Thunderslide on yours? Mine had one. My bike ran crappy until I installed a stock slide.
I really like CVP products. I have them on my Sportster. As far as the Thunderslide, I hate it. The previous owner on my bike had a DJ kit in it, and it never could get tuned right. Replaced the slide and all CVP parts, and it's much more smooth now. Gets better mileage to boot.
The problem with the thunderslide is it only works with the DJ kit, because of the weight and holes drilled in it. To use the CVP needle and spring, the stock slide is the best. No reason to use anything else.
