Thanks vheflin, that gives me another point to check, but was your problem starting with the engine spitting back through the TB? Mine starts with a barely noticeable little spit then gets worse after a few miles! It doesn't spit or misfire every time but it starts small and gradually gets worse to the point of a complete shutdown or a very bad misfire until I shut it down! I'll check that temp sensor after Christmas and thanks!

I don't recall if my engine was backfiring through the TB but if it was it was ever so slight. My symptoms were random but got progressively worse over time. I was out riding one day and had traveled about 80 miles from home and the bike started sputtering and cut out after I stopped. I had a hell of a time getting it started to come home. Made it back about 50 miles and the bike cut off again but this time it wouldn't restart. After I'd called for a tow, I waited about an hour for the tow and the bike restarted so I rode home with no further issues. For 3 weeks after that the same crap happened at random times but never when I had it in the shop. After changing the temp sensor I asked the shop to check it and they stated they couldn't do it as the working temperature range of the sensor was too high and they didn't have anything in the shop to test it with. I was curious to know definitively if it had been the sensor. It must have been because the problem never came back. It was strange because I didn't get any codes. This may have been where I found the list of codes:

Sure sounds like my problem! Lets see if I understand the temp sensor's reason for being there and how it interacts with the engine.
So the way I understand it is that when the temp sensor reaches a range higher than the recommended setting, the engine is supposed to either cut off or the engine Computer cuts the ignition back or Sputters the engine giving the rider an indication that he is running hot. Is this the correct reasoning for the sensor operation? If so then I can understand where a sensor going bad will cause this same problem that I am having and that replacement is required! Thanks for your input! Is there anyone else with a suggestion or have had this same problem that I have mentioned at the start of this post?
As the fuel in the tank drops it exposes the pin holes and the result is as if the bike is running out of gas. Which it is. The gas sloshing around covers and uncovers the holes resulting in the intermittent nature of the problem. You'll need to remove the dash and the tank cover and turn on the bike without starting it to see if this is the problem. the leaking will reveal itself by seeing a swirling or bubbles. You'll also need new screws as they one use only.

Thanks and I will look into that possible cause! So I'll need new screws? Well why not, seems as if every part on this bike has to have a new something after checking to see if the part in question is bad! :-)

Just out of curiosity, what happens when the engine temp sensor realizes a hot engine? Does the ECM start shutting the engine down or does the engine sieze? Thinking this might be problem I an having with my engine running bad after a short ride!

Thanks and Merry Christmas from the Magnolia State! I was doing a quick diagnostic on my motor problem and I was wondering about the ignition module and if it could be my problem. On an auto the module acts very similar to the problem I am having. First let me say that I have thought back as to the different causes that may have contributed to my problem and I do remember that it only seem to act up on a warm day of 65 degrees or better. On the cooler days there was no ignition problem! Anyone have any ideas or similar problems associated with the warm weather versus cold weather?
