Motor problems!! HELP PLEASE!!

I forget to address chuck's question. No I haven't checked the temp readings YET! My next thing to do when the beast goes back to sleep, is to run it till it starts waking up and check head and cylinder temps. It's really hard to get it to act up in my shop at home, it seems to want to go for a stroll before growling back to life!

Getting back to the pin holes, wouldn't the bike keep acting up after the initial trouble started and stay in a sick mode until I or my mechanic could find that problem? I ask that because it seems that pin holes ( and I am not doubting your diagnosis) would keep the problem going instead of being intermittent like its doing now! Or am I wrong with my assumption?

I had something similar happen
to me several years back. I went through the troubleshooting process but found absolutely nothing wrong. After digging through a ton of posts and other resources I narrowed it down to then engine temperature sensor. Funny thing was no codes were found either but after replacing the engine temperature sensor the problem disappeared. Just my .02 cents but for the cost and aggravation I'd give it a try. Let us know what you find out.
