There used to be a self inflicted pride when you had a new Harley. Everyone would know that if you had a new ride that you waited, months if not over a year for it. Owning a new Harley was not a spontaneous choice. You had one because you planned it, waited for it and accepted whatever came in. I would love to see it go back to that. It has not been that long since those days either - within the last 10 years perhaps.

really, started with the 03 anniversary editions, when harley said " we will have a bike for anyone that wants one" .. and they did, over produced them big time . ppl said that was so cool then, then used prices went to crap in a handbag really fast . right before that, most dealers had a lottery,or a wait list.

I look at it a different way. Many potential Harley riders just bought another brand and rode it because they wanted to ride, not wait.. Meeting demand has allowed far more guys and gals to get the Harley they've always wanted. More Harley riders out there now.

Ya accepted whatever came in? Wow! Sounds like a great way to waist a whole bunch of $$$ Tim

I wonder if he meant to write.....
You had one because you planned it, waited for it OR accepted what come in.
Which is what the situation is over here in the UK. Very limited choice of new in stock, which is OK if you're not bothered about colour choice or even model, or you are lucky in that a dealer may just happen to have what you want in the showroom.
I don't know jack about the situation - but I have to believe that the MOCO understands how much better off they are with a free flowing supply chain rather than allocation. I also have to believe that the union understands they are not going to get everything they want. We are living in an economy of auto plant closings, layoffs, cutbacks, etc.
MOCO and union workers will both suffer with a lengthy strike. Too many $$$$$ on the line - the bikes will get to where they will move but the consumer has certain expectations at this point. Radical pricing changes will turn buyers away and tip the whole situation on it's head. All parties involved understand that.
this thread was killed by the mods before ! now union talk is up and posting again. kill this thread please . riding bikes and union talk do not mix . i do not want to hear this crap .
You must be one of them democrats who think they knows whats best for others.
Nobody made you click this thread, did they?
Nobody, made you read it, did they?
Nobody made you continue to reply to a thread you said should be killed.
However, since you did take time out of you life that you can never get back to tell people what to do I thought I should reply.
