Have had the 4" Speedo/Tach on my 2009 FXD SuperGlide since last summer and have not had any errors thrown yet (have a few thousand miles on the bike since install). The only thing I had happen was a VIN Error on the guage but once that cleared all was good. From what I am reading here is it looks like the problem is with 2007 and earlier and the 2011 and latter. Have not read any thing about the 2008-2010 bikes.

Just to add to the list.. I have a 2006 FXDI and had the same U1097 code issues. I had a thread going about it back in October, I think.
After wrestling back and forth for months between the MoCo and the dealer, ( and the replacement gauge under warranty with the same issues ), I was eventually told by Harley that it was a "known issue". And, for what it's worth, I keep my bike bone stock.
I also gave up and went back to the stock speedo.
Combo returned for store credit. got the day maker headlight . stock speedo back in mileage is wrong but who cares I can see deer a mile away at night Lol.

Glad to know you got it worked out and received something that you like. Good luck.
Same issue here... I called Corporate Harley and explained my issue, they said that they will give me a full refund. Corporate Harley told the dealer to return my money, and it is a known issue with the 2006 street bobs even though it is still listed as compatible. Just call Harley and explain the issue, there is no solution until the tech's figure what is causing the code.
new member here... 2007 FXDB with same U1097 code after installation of combo tach. I have found the only way to not get the code is to ride with it in "clock" mode, not odometer. Luckily, I have a friend of a friend who works for HD. I spoke to him today, and from the sound of it, they are aware of the problem. He has requested the name of my local dealer to work on a fix. I will keep you posted with the progress, but it does sound like they know how to fix it!
