Dyna size questions lately...
I like the bike because it is a great size for both me and my wife. I sat on a few touring bikes, but I would think it would feel "heavy" to me after riding my Dyna. I set my bike up for my size and it fits me p[erfect.
Me and my wife on our wedding day. She is just over 5' and has plenty of room on the back.
I now have to either change handle bars and or seat to get close enough. It is easy to find 2-3inch extensions for forward controls but I am having a fit to finding the reduced kit for my 05 without spending lots of dollars.
You all bikes look great. I love the way my wife has to sit so close to me.
Oh, I'm 5'7" at 140lbs. The good part is any bike will fly with me on it. LOL
Comfort on a Dyna is all about 3 things: controls, seat, and bars. For me, I had forwards put on my FXDC before I picked it up, I recently bought a Corbin Dual Tour seat, and I've got the stock bars because I like them & think they're comfortable the way they are. I love the look of apes, but they're not comfortable for me. I do like drag bars too, which I might consider someday if I could pick up a set of factory drag bars off of an FXDF & put extended risers on them.
I'm 6'1"+ with a 34" inseam and 215 lbs & my Dyna fits me near perfect.
Thats funny. I am 6' and weigh 225 and my Dyna fits me fine. Got more than a few 400 mile days 2UP. I like the Dyna cause its like a chamelion. Its appearance is easily changed.
I have an electraglide and after one season I knew I made a mistake. Previous bike was a 98 softail custom. As soon as I rode the Electra I knew it was all wrong for me. Yea it's a big hulking beast. But aside from eating highway asphalt and spitting it out once you get where your going the one thing missing is your "cool bike".
This time when shopping I decided after seeing all the mods available, after seeing all the different looks one could achieve to make it your own, and after sitting on dozens of them, the dyna won hands down over all the other bikes in the Harley line up. The only other bike I liked was the switchback. But after careful deliberate consideration I chose my 2010 bob. I got tons of hp and torque, it's so comfortable I don't even wanna ride my Electra anymore, in fact it's for sale..........
The reason for this thread was to let all us big guys tell all those doubters just how versatile and accommodating the dyna line up is. I'm a big strapping man and I look great on it and feel even better. The Fwds alone fixed most of the issues, then the right seat and bars an boom your good to go.
So for all you large framed men considering a dyna, don't be dissuaded by the appearance of smallness, it's an illusion easily cured by performing mods you will likely do on other models anyway. There are aspects of the Electra that at the mid control point feel small to a guy with long legs. Highway pegs only go so far. Slap some forwards on a dyna, the right seat, some propper apes, and you'll look as cool as you feel.
I love it and don't regret it one little bit!

In terms of its dimensions in 2010 the dyna actually has the longer wheelbase and lower seating position.......so the size issue is more illusion in terms of the bikes key metrics.
