I've heard (but haven't actually been able to compare) that the 103 engine is "smoother" than the 96. Any truth to that? I'm thinking of possibly ordering a Street Bob through the HD1 program, which gives the option of the 103. So is it worth it?
Same motor...Different bore...What does the upgrade cost? You also get ACRs with it. Not sure if they are stock on the newer 96" motors. If less than 1000.00, it's worth it...

You only have to upgrade if you choose a non-standard color (anything other than black.)
The upgrade costs $350 for a black motor, $750 for chrome.
Look at a few other factory options to save money:
Fwd controls are $180 installed. $400 plus labor if bought separate.
The two up seat and peg kit is also cheaper if ordered from the factory.

I love the look of your scoot brother! Nice lines, color and set up.
