Just to be technically correct, it is a counterbore and on my Softail its a pretty close fit to the bolthead. My front is also thinner then the rear. Off my head think front is 3/16 and rear is 1/4

Well I took my rotors down to a couple machine shops today. First place wouldn't touch them and the second quoted me at 65$ to counterbore all ten holes.

Seems kind of high to me. What do you guys think?

If it was just a countersink they could just do it on a drill press. However the counterbore requires them to probable do it on a Bridgeport mill setting up to each hole and using a endmill to hold diameter and depth. Considering an hour labor sounds fair. If they had a counterbore tool with a pilot the hole diameter they may be quicker but most small shops may not have that tool. I could not do it for less then $45 and still pay my help and power bill and I am super small with a lathe, saw and verticle mill. Maybe a local school vo-tech will do it for 15-20 (pizza and drinks for lunch for them on you). One around here will.

The easy fix, which I have seen on a couple of bikes now is to tighten the bolts and then grind the heads down until they clear the legs.

They are a dog to get out again but then you shouldn't need to.

65 bucks to countersink 10 holes in stainless is a bargain mate.

Cool thanks for the info guys. I've got zero experience when it comes to machining parts so I had no idea what sort of prices to expect. But the owner I talked to today said himself that he wasn't making any money off me and that he really didn't even want to take the job haha.

So guess I need to think this one over. The other thing I'm considering is selling these rotors on here or Ebay and picking up a new pair of 11.8" Dyna rotors. Probably be cheaper that way.

Honestly, that is exactly what I would do. Buy a new set of rotors from a newer Dyna. Hell, I gave my stock rotors away when upgraded my rotors.

Are the bagger caliper bolts different at all? Or are those the ones you're using? I swapped all of my rotor hardware to black button heads from the stock torx ones. The new bolts were quite a bit thinner than those as well. I was using floating rotors though with recesses not those bagger ones. Also lemme ask a dumb question... there's not actually a recess for the bolts on the flip side of those rotors is there? Like maybe they could have been installed wrong?
