21" front wheel on Street Bob
As I said before, I had to look and look for a 21 to fit my FXDL (narrow) forks and what I wound up with came off a Sportster.
What the guy who started this thread should do is simply buy a 21 inch rim and a spoke set from Buchanan and build his own 21 inch wheel using his own hub.
That will be cheaper than buying a wheel and he can have what he wants in the way of rim and spokes. The only reason I bought a wheel was because I was replacing a cast wheel and needed a hub. I parted out that wheel and bought stainless spokes and an Ankrondt rim because that is what I wanted to have on my scooter. But, to each his own I guess.........pg
Yeah, you can buy one all day long on Ebay if you want a chrome hub, chrome rim, and spokes that will soon start to rust. That was my point. I do not want an aftermarket wheel.
I must have: an aluminum (non chromed) hub, an aluminum rim, and stainless steel spokes for my ride. Chrome will eventually turn into rust. Stainless will never rust. Chrome is cheap.
Stainless is not cheap but you get what you pay for. You bought a chrome wheel for $150.
I paid $156 just for my set of Buchanan stainless polished spokes.
The aluminum Ankrondt rim was $215.
I still had to build the wheel at that point and all I have sitting in front of me is $371 worth of parts, and I do not include that used hub I need.
Now, you are not going to find what I just described on Ebay for $150, or at any price for that matter because in general, this wheel does not exist.
You have to build what you want. If someone wants something that is different than everyone else has this is the way you do it.
Most of the posters here on this forum can only ask where can I buy this chromed part? As I have said several times, the posters over on the ironhead site would take this same question and ask how can I build this part? (Don't want chrome by the way)
Everybody has different wants and needs and I continue to be amazed by the difference between the posters here and the guys over on ironhead side. It is like one side is buyers and the other is builders. I am on the builder side of this issue.........pg

I think it's great that you are building what you want. But without seeing my wheel, you call my wheel cheap, becasue I chose to get a chrome wheel? It won't rust unless I allow it to, and since I take good care of my stuff, that won't happen. It's called never dull and a rag, do it all the time![&:]
If I wanted to build my own wheel, I would, but since virtually everything I want is available over the counter, why should I spend triple the cost to assemble it myself?
Basically, I don't want an aluminum rim, and I found what I wanted. The post started with a guy asking if you can get a narrow 21 for the Bob. Several guys posted saying you can't, and that is just plain wrong. You can buy the wheel. If a guy wants to go your route and lace it himself then great, but you can still buy one already laced and trued.

Yea I just chose to go with a new chrome wheel & hub, didnt want any down time, I got a New60 spoke all chrome shipped to my door for 468.00 and got the spacers form the dealer. If I ever want to go back it's a eassy swap. Last time I bought a wheel off E-Bay, I threw it away
