I was kind of hoping mine would "wear in" a little better than it has. I read those stories too and was looking forward to the worn in look. My paint has held up very well, as have all the other denim bikes I've seen.
I've also read that Windex is what's supposed to be used on it. And I've read not the one with ammonia. So I really don't know. Harley has a cleaner but it's like $18 for a little bottle and there's no telling what's in it...Windex probably.
Buddy of mine has a Night Train with the denim finish...I think it's a '08 or '09. He uses the HD cleaner on his & it looks like new.
I would consider the denim finish if I were buying a Street Bob or Slim.
The nice thing about high gloss is that you can polish 90% of scuffs & scratches out of it if you know what products to use and how to do it properly.
You're going to get small scratches and scuffs if you ride your bike....difference is, with gloss finish you can make it like new again....with denim it just becomes part of its character.

It's not even close to windex (smells way better too) and it's only $8 a bottle. I just finished the one I got when I bought the Street Bob 3 years ago and I wipe my stuff down after almost every time I ride them.
Got 3 bottles at a HD shop that was closing for 50% off, that's less than a bottle of windex from Wal Mart. I should be good for awhile.
I use Meguiars Quick Detail and micro fiber towel on my bike. It's 2010 and still looks great and gets compliments on every ride or gas station visit.
I only wash my bike 1 or 2 times a year. I typically only wash my wheels. The rest is handled by the quick detailer after each ride. In fact, my last full wash was almost 1 year ago.
Any day weather is good, I commute 80 miles roundtrip on it. I do not ride it in the rain.
Also, the blacked out bikes are only popular on this website. I rarely run into one out on the road. Most cruisers are bling-bling chromed out.
The painter who painted my bike "Dark Matte Grey" gave me a spray (probably similar to the HD spray) and a microfiber cloth and said to just spray my bike and wipe it with the cloth. It's worked great for me so far....
That's an awesome looking bike man....love the paint!
