I use meguires quick detail and a cloth on mine and it looks great. The comment about the scratches isn't quite accurate. I've beat the hell out of my bike and the denim doesn't show small scratches like gloss does. You'd have to get a deep scratch to see it, something that probably would go through the paint, no buffing will help that.

Here is a picture of my tank. I've owned this bob since November 2009. I removed the badge in march 2010.
As you can see the difference in fade is drastic. To the point that I'm either going to replace the tank badges or just go with a gloss paint.
No offense or disrespect but are you sure you didn't put some wax on your denim paint before??? Maybe store your bike outside? I don't know but my denim black paint looks nothing like that. Your paint just seems real chalky or maybe your camera lens did not focus on the paint. Also, noticed some blemishes on the front of your tank.

None taken. I keep it covered and garaged when I'm not riding. But I do ride a lot and it spends a lot of time in the sun. The blemishes may be a couple of stray dog hairs.
It seems from the posts that the denim paint is not as fragile as some thought.
Looks like it holds up really well. Guess it's like anything....if you take care of it it will last and look good for a long time & if you don't it will look like ****....just like glossy paint, only doesn't require waxing and polishing.
I use Meguiars Quick Detail and micro fiber towel on my bike. It's 2010 and still looks great and gets compliments on every ride or gas station visit.
I only wash my bike 1 or 2 times a year. I typically only wash my wheels. The rest is handled by the quick detailer after each ride. In fact, my last full wash was almost 1 year ago.
Any day weather is good, I commute 80 miles roundtrip on it. I do not ride it in the rain.
Also, the blacked out bikes are only popular on this website. I rarely run into one out on the road. Most cruisers are bling-bling chromed out.
Mine is not black denim but pewter denim but anyways, I use the Meguiars Quick Detail spray with a microfiber cloth too. After almost 6 years it still looks like when I bought it minus a couple rock chips.
I don't see many denim bikes around me either.
