mine's an '08, had mine replaced in spring 2011 with 11k on them but that was because they were worn out. IMO, if they are not weather checked, the tread looks ok and they hold air, there would be no need to replace them.
Edit: I will add that tubes can get kinda rotten over time so if you're looking at spoke wheels, it might be wise to at least replace the tubes. Then it's the argument whether or not to just do the tires while you're in there, that would be cost dependent of course.

Wow, my tires has to be replaced from being worn out every year. I have 4 bikes, none of em will last longer than a year.
I would change em at least every other year regardless of mileage.

I believe manufacturers state 5 years due to break down of components.
You'll see this a lot. Its a pretty good general rule but not an absolute.
Best answer is replace then when they need to be replaced. No weather checking on the side walls, rubber looks good and feels good. Plenty of tread. Ride em.
If they've been taken care of and stored well 5-6 years old is no problem.
Mine's an 08 with 8200miles, still running factory Dunlop up front and changed rear out this winter(tread was into the wear bars). Run them until they wear out if weather doesn't get em first.
Low-ish speed around town?... A flat may not be a big deal, so you might be willing to risk an older tire.
But if you spend a lot of time at 85+ mph and far from home or where you wouldn't want your bike stranded on the side of the road, then it might be worth the $$ to replace them sooner rather than later.
I've driven tractors on 20 year old tires with no problems .
I've also driven CARS on the road with tires that were 15+ years old... Those tires worked just fine, but maybe it was just a stretch of good luck.
