Default windshield problem, need help

Ok so I bought this used windshield off of ebay and the guy said it was for a dyna with 49 mm forks. Well it comes in and it doesn't fit. Looking at the clamps they have the number "52" stamped on them so I assume they are for 52 mm forks, ok no big deal I hit up surdyke and got some new 49mm clamps. I get the new clamps in and they are totally different than the 52mm ones?? They look the same but the mount where the screw goes is on the totally opposite side of the mount than the other one, and no matter how I mount them up they wont work.

The new camp is on the top, the old one is the one with the screw in it. In this pic they are both arranged so they open on the same side. But you can see on the new one the mount is on the opposite side.

Here they are aligned so that both screw mounts are on the same side.

So what should I do? The seller of the windshield was an asshat and I can't return that, and I guess I'm gonna have to try to sell the new clamps I bought on my own cause I cant return those either. Are there another set of clamps I can get? or am I screwed? Sucks too cause I really like the shape and size of the windshield.

You could make some wrap-around spacers to put on the forks under the clamps. its only 1.5mm spacer thickness. Some stick on rubber or foam would do it.

If it differs from the description you can try to get a refund from PayPal. It doesn't matter if the seller posted "no returns" if it was not honestly listed. Usually the seller will try to make good if threatened by PP. If he doesn't, you may get a refund and keep the shield (I had this happen on a set of mountain bike wheels).

The clamps from Surdyke are like all the others I have seen. Are you sure it is an HD shield?

Well I kinda screwed myself cause I left positive feedback before I checked fitment. It is an HD shield, but has no part number on it.

Go to a machine shop and pay the guy to mount it, if you can't figure it out yourself. An xtra $100 bucks won't break the bank and you'll have the windshield you want

Top ones are the right style. I have these on my '06 49-mm Wide Glide forks. But Wide Glide are wider-spaced fork tubes than other Dyna models, so "Dyna 49-mm" doesn't guarantee fit.
An FYI: When mounting a 'shield with these cam-lock brackets, if the bracket isn't VERY perpendicular to the fork tube, the clamping finger will break, and HD doesn't sell that piece; you gotta buy a whole clamping bracket. I snapped one and had to buy a new one, and the parts guy explained this tip to me. I decided to fab a new finger from some scrap aircraft aluminum. Super-glued the broken piece back together (see glue line on top part of 1st pic), used it as a template to scribe and mark holes on the scrap aluminum, drilled holes first, rough-cut the shape on the bandsaw, coarse-shaped on grinder, fine-shaped with files, sandpaper, buffer...about 3-hours time invested but it works perfectly, with the same cam-lock feel as factory piece. I should'a waited until after polishing before I took the photos; shined up close to the chrome one. Yep, pretty proud of my handiwork on that one! Now have a working spare, in case I get careless [again] locking the 'shield on.
