I am going to install the Power Vision tomorrow after my girls soccer game.
Reading the quick start guide...then I select FLASH to flash the ECM...the instructions note: During the flash process, do not turn off the bike. Once complete, you will be prompted to turn off the bike for 10 seconds.
Here is my question. When do I turn on the bike? I do not see any where it says to turn on the bike before the flash install. And does this mean actual starting the bike or just turn the ignition to on but not starting? And how will I know the flash has finished?

After your 10 seconds are up and you turn the ignition on your map is loaded.
so when you plug in the Power Vision to the ECM and flash the ECM nothing is turned on? If nothing is turned on then why does the Quick Start say "do not turn off the bike during the flash process. Once complete, you will be prompted to the bike off for 10 seconds."
This is why I am a bit confused with whether the bike needs to be turned on before the start of flash.
Im no expert an its been a while but you load tune then it prompts you to turn off your bike then you wait 10 sec then turn it back on and your done. Have to upload your stock configuration first so the PV is married to the bike. There is a powervision thread with a bunch of experts and Iim sure they would be happy to help. You might be over thinking it. I did. Took me like 10 tries before I figured it out.
I know I am probably over thinking this. But there is a reason for these damn instructions. Not sure how I will know if I have the correct flash when I start up. Thinking if my nuts don't fry after 2 minutes of riding then I know I have the right flash. lol
No, you just turn the switch to run and be sure the kill switch is not off and the powervision will boot and then follow the instructions. When done turn the switch off wait 10 sec and start the bike, you are done.

After you've connected the PV to your data port, turn on the "IGN" and "RUN" switches (not necessary to run motor) and the PV screen will power on. Go through the prompts and select the tune you want to load into the ECM (PV will 'marry' itself to your ECM during the process).
When the tune has finished 'flashing' you will be prompted to turn the IGN off for 10 sec, then you need to turn the IGN switch back on to 'lock' the tune into your ECM (make sure the 'RUN' switch is on also). That completes the flash process.
The Auto Tune process is also a little tricky at first, but gets easier each time you do it. Hope it works out for you.

Man i know it isn't simple, but you will have to learn to use your PV. You will get the hang of it, but there is a lot to know in order to use it properly. A good place to start is this page. http://www.dynojet.com/powervision/p...Power%20Vision
Also O-Town D and wfojon are correct, but there is so much more involved that nobody can really answer your question in a few short phrases.
