I'm getting a little frustrated with my pcv, before I toss it in the trash, I figured I'd give it one more try. My bike, 05 FXDWGI, ran perfect before-pcv. I have Sampson BG3 pipes and DK ac. I purchased the pc from Fuelmoto. With the preloaded map, bike ran best, not great but best of the other maps. The issue with the that map is it backfires, and I mean really backfires on decel. Called FM, explained issue, got map #2 and uploaded it. With map #2 the bike has a nasty hesitation but the decel pop diminished a bit. Called FM, get map #3, uploaded map, same issue as map #2. Called FM got map #4-no better. Also tried map #5-no better. Also I have lost 8-10 mpg. It seems funny to me that FM keeps sending maps that add more fuel. I am now ridding without the pc connected and the bike runs fine. WHat do you think?
I know it sucks, but buy a mster tuner and det it dyno'd. A good tuner can fix all the problems. I beleive a master tuner is about 400 and then dyno about 200
Been there done that after camming. Very frustrating to say the least..
Do you plan on keeping the bike?
Do you plan on camming?
Try this..
Have your computer hooked up to the PC-V and call Roy Harper of Dynojet in Las Vegas where D/J is out of.
Explain your situation to him and he may be able to help.
The problem w/that approach though is you have to tweek and ride.
If you don't want to mess w/that then you should think about an alternative.
Easier though, would probably be to have it dyno-ed.
That will be a little $pricey, but that would take care of it.
That brings up another issue though.
Gotta find the right tuner. Not all guys know how to tune..
If you want to pursue that though, it would be better to cam it first then have it dynoed.
However, if you're frustrated with the whole process, then you can pull the PC-V and sell it, and buy a Thundermax tuner. They seem to work well for most.
I'm sure many will say different though.
There are those who prefer the TTS, the fairly new PV which is supposed to be more of a flash tuner than is the PC-V.
I had similar issues and was on the phone for 2 weeks after my cam install with F/M and D/J, and a new AT to go with my PC-V and finally said Screw it and went with 1 tuner, and then another tuner and finally got it right.
I am considering having it dyno'd but, I cant find a reputable tuner in my area and I'm afraid of investing in a tune and having the same issues...I'm also planning future mods. I may just try to return the pcv and run without it. No issues without it.

I can tell you that FM cannot take a pc-v back unless it has a factory defect. Call keith at FM, he is now the pc-v go to guy, and have him explain the procedure to check your throttle position. Re-check what 128 suggested and make sure your using the O2 sensor eliminators and that there is no humidity in your pc-v to ECM connector plug. Sometimes water will get in there and just throws everything into a big short circuit. Finally go back to the first map they gave you. They are usually right on.
