Default WideGlide Tank Swap

Ok - I know its been talked about - but I got a quick question: I'm putting a WG tank on my 01 FXD and was wondering if anyone knows the difference in the WG dash consoles. I know I have to use one that will work from 94-03 but there isa couple ofdifferent part numbers. I'm ready to tackle the wiring, speedo move, fuel gauge, sending unit,(probably just leave my key where it is). But the two different consoles have me stumped. Any advice would be great. GeorgeJ

By different part numbers from year to year do you mean the entire part number or just the 2 or 3 suffix? For example, 12345-99 and 12345-02 I believe are the same basic number, just updated or improved. What year WG tank are you looking to install and what different part numbers are you looking at?

The tank is a mystery - Im thinking its a least a 96 (no part numbers stamped on it). I want to use a FXDWG console - but it looks like HD list two that fit 71246-99 - supposedly works up until an 03 FXDWG and 71246-94 ( not so sure about the part number ....94 so I'm thinking 94-98). From what I can figure out the "99" uses an LED set-up for the idiot lights and the "94" uses bulbs. I've been haunting my local dealer this afternoon at lunch to get this info. I was think of either trying to transplant my bar mounted lights or just use the console for the speedo and fab some think like a FXDL setup. This is turning out to be way more fun then I thought.
