After spending a few days searching the internets i still haven't found a definitive answer for the performance difference.
Lots of... "oh i run short shots and they are fine", "i run shorties on my 110 and they are awesome", "TH's are crappy looking" etc.
to
"shorties suck, TH's are awesome, you'll gain like 10 hp!!", etc.
So, with a 96 with Stage 1, will i get any noticeable performance increase in swapping short shots out for some thunderheaders? (with a proper tune)
What about when i finally save up and put a 107 in? Will i notice then?
I don't really like the looks of the other 2-1's, like d&d's etc.
Absolutely! I'm not gonna come out and give you a number, but you will definitely notice a difference in torque. There shouldn't be a doubt in your mind of whether or not you should do this. Short shots are a good pipe for the price, but they are simply too short to make any amount of power. They look nice, and they are loud; that's all the have to offer. Oh, and look at a D&D Bobcat too, that's a badass pipe. Looks nice too.
My bud has the V&H 2-1 Competition pipe on his '12 fat bob. It hangs low but it definitely produces a lot of power. His stage 1 103 is much faster than my stage 2 96".
Not his bike, but just showing you the pipe.
It's got a very distinct sound. I can hear him from across town when he gets on it, which is 99% of the time. lol
