Question Start problems

Went out to dinner and when I was done the starter wouldn’t turn over. It clicked then all the power died to the point where my clock reset to 12:00. I had to turn the key to Off before I got my idiot lights back. After 2 or 3 times I gave up and decided to pop the clutch to get home. When I got home, I turned my bike off, waited about 15 seconds and it started up like nothing was wrong. I did this twice.

My bike is on a trickle charge whenever I’m not riding it. My lights and blinkers were strong so I don’t think it’s my battery.

Any idea’s?

I'd double check the battery connections, could be loose and making poor contact.

The battery connection behind the battery box gets corroded.
When I had my battery box out I could clearly see it. I cleaned it and applied never-seeze to the connection.

Makes sense. I'm headed to DC for my first Rolling Thunder and don't want to worry about anything. It should be amazing.

Default Check the connections

at the battery. I had a very similar problem. Turned out it was just the battery connections. They need to be tightened with more than a Phillips screwdriver. Use loctite (careful to get it only on the threads) and tighten it with a 10mm socket or wrench. Be careful not to get crazy torquing the bolts, the metal on the battery connections is not real hard.

Good Luck.

It's not the battery connections.
