Im thinking of putting forward controls on my 01 fxdxt
I have a hooker header 2 into 1 and it only works with forward controls
Im defiantly tall enough for them lol
How dose it effect handling
appearance?
and one have photos of forward controls on a t-sport?
Mid controls keep your weight centered for better handling in corners and allow a more balanced attack when getting your rear off the seat when obstacles require such maneuvers. I use highway pegs when on the interstate with zero to light traffic and use my foot heel to apply rear brake pressure when needed. I'm on the mid pegs/controls all other times.

^^^^This.
I'd get a different exhaust before I'd put forward controls on a FXDX. Forward controls on a FXDX or FXR borders on heresy.
I'm not sure that there is any actual advantage with forwards. They make handling harder and they promote lower back pain. Prime example of form over function.
Don't know about the lower back pain, put a lot of miles on my 05 fxdwg and never experienced that. The only thing I do not like about forward controls is when you are
riding in the early spring late fall or winter the cold air will come right up your legs and
hit you right in the face.
Mids put way too much weight on my tailbone, when I first bought my bike. After a half-hour commute, I was done. (thought I had made a $11K mistake, buying the bike.) Even tried a new seat.
After shelling out for forwards, the back pain, butt pain and leg cramps were gone. So what if the bike doesn't corner as well, for me it was either correct the riding position, or sell the bike.
Its really a personnel preference thing. Handling wise I much prefer the riding position of the mids. If my legs were stretched out on fwd's full time it would kill my back. I run mid controls but do use hwy pegs for an occasional stretch. When it comes to hooking up around corners fwd's would never feel right to me. To each their own....
Forward controls force you to place all your weight right on your tailbone. Mids allow you to raise up off the seat to take the shock out of bad dips and potholes and provide much better handling in the twisties, still allowing the use of highway pegs for an alternate foot position on long trips.
Unless you are extremely long-legged forward controls blow.
