Thunderheader or Bassani 1D5250B sound on stock TC88?
Does anyone have a TH or Bassani 2-1 exhaust on a stock (stage 1) TC88? If so, how's the sound?
I've heard TH exhausts on a couple of heavily modified, big bore Dynas and they sounded great. I've heard a few sound clips of the Bassani pipes, but on larger engines as well.
I'm considering replacing my Cobra slash-cuts as part of a larger transformation I'm doing to the bike, but don't want to drop ~$700 if the TC88 won't get the aggressive rumble and growl.
I am running the 1D18R-2 into 1 (B1)
had em on my 88 when it was stock then went to Big bore 113
Sound wise the only big difference is the volume., possibly deeper when it was 88.
I had em laying around so I tried em on my 88.
I really like how they sound when it was 88 and now 113.
thunderheaders really open uyp when you jump on it though... cruising sounds deep and mean without over powering.... when you twist your wrist they just sound down right pissed off
(plus when/if you do engine mods they love the compression
had the bassani road rage on my stock 96 did not like the sound. changed to big shots after 107 build put back on bassani pipe sounded too automotive to me. replaced it with thunderheader hands down sound is the best I have heard. real deep and gnarly. nothing sounds like a TH.
Thanks! That helps a lot! Now I have another question:
Has anyone had success with doing something to a new TH to stop the finish from flaking off, rusting, or fading?
I've seen some people suggest high-temp powder coating, but has anyone actually done that successfully? I've also seen a few people get theirs ceramic coated, but others have said their ceramic coating flaked off since the inside of the pipe couldn't be done.
