Read your owners manual. You have to shutoff the ignition when fueling. That resets it.

Good day! I have the same problem with the fuel light staying on. I have a 2014 Breakout (Softail). It just started to staying on. I have had technicians look for a problem. They replaced fuel sensors, harness, and more... Still have not been able to find where or why the problem is still gong on. Did you ever find a resolution ?

See if this fixes it.

I guess so. I always wondered why it never registered correctly. haven't turned off my bike in years ... just keep adding gas. It's like a generator.

Are you crazy? RTFM!
Warning!
Stop the engine when refueling or servicing the fuel
system. Do not smoke or allow open flame or sparks near
gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly
explosive, which could result in death or serious injury.

Besides, it'll spoil the paint job.
