Tail Lamp Removed from 2011 StreetBob
I discovered a few weeks ago, that the rear fender on my StreetBob, had vibration cracks.
My Plan was to use a laydown plate mount, and eliminate the tail lamp, before my replacement fender arrived (courtesy of Harley Davidson)... I couldn't find a laydown mount, that wasn't made to accommodate Harley's 3-hole fender, so I decided to fabricate my own.
Custom Dynamics supplied me with a curved, illuminated licence plate frame, to which I bolted the stock plate holder (curved to match the frames arc). A couple new holes on the plate frame, mount it to the bottom of the fender. While a third clamps it through the large hole, left by the stock tail light.
The turn signals and brake lights, now work just like the ones on my wife's nightster. (No mods required.)
Unfortunately for me, the new fender arrived and was mounted a couple weeks early. I say that, because the mechanic who did the work, didn't bother to line up the gasket under the lamp, and it scratched the crap out of the paint.
Sometimes the dealers have to work really hard, to live up to their reputation.
