first off if you need tools go to Napa.....they have it all... home depot and lowes are not a place for any decent variety of mechanics tools..... 2nd.... get a lift and do the fall away your self... its quite simple....
I have a lift, and definitely plan to get the tool(s) needed to do this one myself from now on.
I took it back to the Indy. The tech's jaw dropped when I showed him the problem. They are keeping the bike overnight to completely re-do and check everything. Still gonna grab that socket and extension so I can re-verify at home.
Glad to hear you caught that before things turned ugly. Thats scary. I like to have a beer at the end of the day and just wander around my bike looking at everything, its a good time to inspect stuff to make sure its all where it should be. (and sometimes work on things that dont need fixing )
Nope. Neither did Pep Boys, O'Reillys, or Home Depot. Tried them all. Biggest any of them had was 1 1/4". I need a 1 1/2".
Thanks. I checked my service manual before I tightened it with the crescent wrench - 70 ft/lbs. I can't get the crescent in there tight enough to get that kind of torque, so I'm not worried about over-tightening. I'm confident it's tight enough to get me to the shop, but i'm leaving the cover cap off so I can give it hand-check at stop lights just in case.
