Once you get yourself a big twin, Sporties are usually more for projects and bar hoppers. I just bought a new Dyna and am already thinking about buying another sporty lol. Just so fun and so much you can do.
I had two sportsters, and really liked them. ( A upgraded 883R & XR1200 )
I was curious as to what a big twin felt like, and went home with a Fat Bob...and kept the 883.
I got dumb, and sold it. I didn't like having to deal with 2 bikes for insurance & basic maintenance, but I love the way sportsters look. I'd take another one any day.
Yes, I kept my Sportster. The dealer asked if I was going to trade her in.
I told him, "I bought her new 11 years ago and that was the longest I'd ever kept a woman and I was going to kept her!"
I did ask how much they would give me for my Sportster just for the hell of it before I told him that. I wasn't going to trade it either way. What they offered was a joke.
Trading anything in, bike, car or otherwise is just plain dumb. You can always sell to someone for more than you'll ever get for a trade.
I kept mine, it's nice to have a spare bike when friends come in from out of state then they have something to ride with you. Right now my daughters boyfriend rides it sometimes with me since he doesn't have his own bike.
I'm thinking of adding a sportster. Took one for a 170 mile cruise a few weeks ago. It was nothing like a Dyna. It's own brand of fun. Hate the idea of having two bikes though so I'm still figuring it out. I'm 45, been riding 26 years and after getting off the sporty I seriously considered selling my Dyna to buy it...thats how much fun it was.
