Default ThunderMax EFI System vs Dyno?

I have a 2008 Fatbob that I have just finished installing the S&S 106 Big Bore kit, stock cams, Screaming Eagle Heavy Breather air cleaner and Screaming Eagle slip-on mufflers. Had it dyno tuned. got just around 100 hp and wanting to change to a full exhaust and maybe performance cams. I have seen that the Thundermax EFI system is self tuning and no need to dyno everytime you add or do an upgrade. Has anyone used this system or know if this really works?
Thanks

I believe if you make any major change, will need to either load a new map or dyno it. The self tune keeps it at that tune you want when go through different altitude and such.

No such thing as "self-tuning". As said above, it will do a good job of keeping any tune you put on there but it won't, for instance, magically figure out and adjust the timing for different cams.

If you are going to spend all that on upgrades then finish the job properly and get it tuned again.

Your quote is about how I was feeling. Not sure how the "Auto-tune" would work. Sounded interesting, but wanted to get someone elses opinion.
Thanks everyone

Borrowd this from another forum might help you out. The Tmax is always collecting data and adding offsets to the map that is in the ecm if the settings need changed, but the auto mapping process is what permanently writes those changes to the ecm's map. The auto-mapping process is a manual process that you have to do with a computer hooked up to the ecm. The map that you have is limited in how much range that the auto tune is allowed to move from the base map, auto mapping allows the base fuleflow maps to reset closer to what your engine is requiring and you start with a new set of adjustment points again. In english this means that if the base map is off by 13% and you are capped at the maximum 10% of change, then automapping would rewrite the fuelflow map and allow you the additional tuning range since you have an additional 10% of range to work with again. The easiest way to see how your tune is going is to hook up your computer to the ecm and open up the Tmax control center with the ignition turned on (bike not running). All the data you need to know is in there. From what I know having Tmax is theres no such thing as self tune. You still might need to go in there and tweak the timing for certain types of cams and what have you. Also the base maps they provide run super rich. Which is not a bad thing but kills your fuel economy pretty quick. Again adjustments would need to be made.
