I hate gravel
Went to a buddy's "honey do" party. He meets me part way there and says "its a dirt road but you should be fine". Turns out it's less dirt road and more supercross track. There's sand, dirt, loose gravel, large rock gravel a wodden bridge and a 45 degree incline of loose gravel. Did ok going (hated every minute) but leaving I did ok till the hill. I am easing down hill best i can without using gas clutch pulled in. I hit two ruts back to back and lose it. Bike comes down on top of me. Worst part is my boot is pinned and foot is facing the rear of the bike. I manage to turn myself around pull my foot out of the boot. My friend happened to round the corner right after that. We picked up the bike walked it down, bent the brake pedal enough to make a trip home. Bike came out with just a ding in the tank that the emblem took the brunt for, and a bent pedal and scuffed turn signal. Went to the doctor and I have a moderate to severe sprain but no breakage. Everyone always says i'm always lucky and after stuff like this I believe it.
I'm crutches bound for a couple weeks now so looks like I'll be spending a lot of time on this forum lol.

Guess when I fix the tank it'll be time to go and start painting the trim pieces black. Lots of sanding and blasting to do lol

Better quality motorcycle boots have both ankle armor and rigid ankle support and are designed to prevent this kind of very common injury. On pavement the pavement can wear away the ankle bone leaving you with a lifetime injury if you slide with the bike on top of your ankle unless you are wearing armored boots. Had a couple of similar type incidents with my heavy adventure bike (KTM 990) falling on and dragging my foot off road with no injuries. Eg. http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/d...q-tour-goretex

SLV- best of bad luck. Could've snapped my ankle spinning it around like that.
fat tony- Those boots may have the armor but the bike being on it wasn't what did the damage my foot was able to slip right out the boot. Most if not all of my injury came from my foot being forced to face almost 180 degrees oppisite the direction it's meant to face lol.
but thanks guys. Just another experience in life to go through. Just hating have to sit up in my recliner all day long not able to do anything.

I run gravel everyday i ride as i live 5 k off main road. I hated it at first but now its a cake walk you get use to it. It makes you a better rider if ya can handle speed on gravel it make pavement easier at least it does for me. You ll heal shame about bike tho

FWIW -
45 degrees is really steep - REALLY STEEP - Next time, for better control you should RIDE the bike, in gear on the way down a hill or for that matter over any uneven terrain. You're better off motor braking on uneven terrain and also with the clutch pulled in you loose the ability to "power" thru ruts and stuff.

agreed jeffrey that's my hindsight on the matter. That was my approach to the rest of the road. Really wasn't reassuring to see my buddy's car even slide a little on that hill towards the bottom lol. I believe i wouldn't want to drive that road in my truck let alone on a bike again.
