bleed technique I've used for many years.
master cylinder cap off
slowly squeeze the lever in out in out etc etc
watch the air rise to the top
takes 10 minutes or so (about one beer or so)
tapping on the brake hose and line helps to get the air moving where it wants to go - up
zero mess
zero cost
zero complications

One note this does not work on the rear:-)
Or on the front if the caliper was dry.

Yep, that's my usual way of doing it if I don't have any help around. Works just fine.
