Default Need suspension advice

Hi everyone! I'm currently ridding a 05 fxdx with progressive 970 shocks in the rear and stock suspension in the front. I weigh 145 lbs and trying to get the suspension dialed in for me. When I get on the bike I don't even think it knows I'm on it. The wife does like ridding on it and I'm not to of an aggressive rider mainly cruising 80 freeway not really carving canyons that often.

My first question is for the rear suspension I'm I good with the 970s or should I look at going a different route.

Also I have been trying to find out if the stock spring in the front is ideal for my weight. Race Tech says I should be running a 0.859 kg/mm spring. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Any 145lbs fxdx riders out there

Have you adjusted the preload? When you sit on the bike it should "sag" about 1/3 of the shocks travel.
Measure the shock length with the rear wheel lifted. Measure the length when on the bike. For example, If the shock has 3" of overall travel you want about 1" used from the bike and your weight. If you adjust the length to the lightest setting and still can't get the sag right, you need to get lighter springs.
Adjust the damping **** AFTER you get the springs properly supporting you and the bike.
The're good shocks, you just need to get them set up

Hi Puffdaddy. When I sit on the bike I barely get any sag. I have adjusted the preload there is probably a little more more to adjust but not that much more. My worry is the stock spring is just too stiff for my weight. Does progressive make a lighter spring for the 970 shock?

Also I have been told to possible put bagger shocks on would you recommend against this and just work on getting the 970's dialed in?
