Default Bars for 06 internal wiring

Seen alot of you guys with some nice bars on your bikes. Im wanting do something with mine not sure what yet. Just know I want to internally wire them and could use some help. Never done it before and not sure if there is anything I might need to know. I kinda like the factory bars, but would like something slightly higher. I think they kinda put your wrist in a bind also something that would turn my wrist out a little more would be nice. Was just wondering how you all came to decision of what bars to use. Seeing some pics would help also. Thanks

I've been thinking about the Sportster bars for mine. I've seen this set-up and like it quite well. Not to keen on internal wiring, like mine to show.

I have done internal wiring on both my Dyna's anda Sportster in the past. I did the task on the factory handlebars though. It really does have a clean look, only leaving the brake line and the clutch cable...nothing else.

The task is easy itself...just tedious and time consuming. The main thing is to make sure you do a professional job on the wiring...so it does not come back and haunt you. If you get really interested in doing that yourself...ask away. I have done mine and many others with great sucess.

Internal wiring on my Electra Glides....HELL no!

Did internal wiring on 14.5" apes. Was the phirst time I did anything like that. It's not difficult, common sense is a good guide. The bars I chose weren't made phor internal wiring, but I drilled them out phor them. Stuck with the 1" bars to give an even more minimal look.

Their are harness extensions you could use, or you could solder in new sections if extending. if not extending you can pull the pins phrom the deutch connectors in the phrame.

You could pull the wires with either twine or a stiffer wire.

Lots & lots of options. Basically, take your time, plan in advance, and use a heaping helpin' of common sense.

I have read on here its not a good idea to to on the factory bars with having to drill out holes for the wiring. Makes them really easy to break in the middle. Can see why but is it really that bad?
