I just picked this up. 1980 FXWG. Looks like hell right now, but it starts and idles and has a clean title. Closing on a house this week and winter is coming, so I know what I'll be doing. LOL. Probably won't be any updates for a little bit until I get the house settled but after that, it's game on! Doing a lot of reading since this is my first Dyna and my first Shovelhead. Any pointers or anything you see in the pics, please let me know.
Lol awesome man. I bought my dyna when closing on my house. I know how that goes. Look forward to seeing some progress on the bike. Good luck on the closing!!
Nice barn find, complete disassembly required.
Take lots of photos and put parts into ziplock bags marked with a Sharpie.
The last thing you want is a basket case.
Plan on buying a motorcycle lift too.
UPS and FedEx will become part of your family.
A little rough but always nice to find a running shovel for cheap, lol...my second Harley was a 1981 wide glide.
It's not a dyna though...I believe the dyna line debuted in the early 90's.
Just plain ol' FX before then.

Also an AMF Shovel if I'm not mistaken. The last before the employee ownership.
Good luck with it, just takes patience as much as skill. Here is my father's 1980 FXWG, only has 14K on it. It was found inside of a huge rose bush next to a building being demolished in NYC. Probably sat in there for close to 30 years. It runs and rides after a new carb install. Motor is very tight and snappy. Might be this winter's project or next.
