Hey all, I was wanting to pick everyone's brain a little. I'm looking at going with smoked lenses on my '11 Street Bob. I will need to change my bulbs out for amber up front, and red in the rear. I was looking at the LED replacements for my rears that just have the regular base (something like http://performancetruckproducts.com/...FY9eQgodYDkA1g). I talked to one guy who ran them on his Street Glide and didn't need a load equalizer. Wanted to find out for sure before I bought them and then they don't work.
ok i have LED on the back of my fxdc and incadecent in from and they flash just a little faster, the flasher module (TSM) will find the the LED and compensate as much as it can, to do this you will have to hook up the LEDs and let the blinkers flash so the TSM will pick up the LED and compensate for them... in may take a few minutes for it to do work it out
Thanks Deano!
I didn't want to just install the incandescent red bulbs as they tend to turn pink a little quick. Would like a little extra light from the LEDs also.
all i did was the back LEDs in my saddle bags, the front is normal and i tried to put the load equalizers on but they didnt work at all so i left it alone and hooked up the LEDs anyway and thats what i found... i was pleasnantly supprised
First, check out the Radiantz LED items. I'm not sure if you need the 1156 or 1157 on the rear. The 1156 are single intensity and the 1157 are dual for run/turn/brake. You'll want 1156 on the front.
They work on my bike without a load equalizer, but mine's a '13 Street Bob with CanBUS. I suspect you'll need an equalizer.
These plug in like bulbs, fit in the housing well and are much brighter than stock. I can't say for sure if you need the equalizer for '11 and older models.
By the way, Custom Dynamics sells similar clusters that people seem to really like. I haven't tried them, but their other products are excellent. They cost more than the Radiantz. Custom Dynamics can tell you if you need the EQ (they sell them also.)
I've got LEDs in the rear and amber incandescent in the front with no equalizer. I've been putting off installing an equalizer because honestly there is no room on the Street Bob to add stuff like that. With the power commander its already full, and I'm about to add air ride!
