I,m looking to hear from anyone that has a Windshield on a WideGlide and likes it . I have bought two windshields one a H-D the other after market .
Both has so much wind buff it was hard to ride . Do you have a Shield and does it work ?
I have a Memphis shades Fats for my WG. I don't use it very often, but yes you are going to notice some buffeting over not having a shield on. I would not say mine is hard to ride with the shield on. More rake and the skinny front on a WG may contribute to the buffeting you get with a shield as well. You might look into either shimming your brackets to get a more laid down angle or getting different brackets to lay it back.
I have one on mine but only use it for distance riding on highways to reduce arm pump. Mine seems to work well enough but it's not perfect. I'm not sure what you have been dealing with brand wise but mine is a 1998 Wide Glide with what HD called a Non-Deatachable Windshield but it really only is held on with 4 bolts and I usually take it off once I get to my destination. As I'm a tall rider(6'4") my eyes are right at the top of the windshield which is more of a problem for me than anything else.
Man I HEAR ya on buying them shields, I ended up with a Windvest I picked up from a swap meet $40.Did some surgery to it to fit around my light,It acts more like a screen took all the press. off my chest and don't eat nearly as many bugs and debris.I really like it
I,v got an 08 WideGlide The First WindShield I bought new . It was a H-D Shield with the Quick Release It was just bad . The Buffeting was so bad I could not see at 50 mph . The other I bought off e-bay the only difference it cost less .
While this is technically not a wide glide (converted Super Glide, FXDF trees) the fitment is the same other than the different rake in the trees. So if you want something BIG, and I mean really big - read this
But if you want something small that WORKS REALLY WELL, yet goes virtually unnoticed, day in, day out then what you want is the National Cycle Flyscreen and you should read this
Did I mention that the flyscreen WORKS REALLY WELL? If not, then I want to point out that it does,, takes 90% of the wind off your chest and there is NO BUFFETING, best of all is the thing is dirt cheap and once set up comes on or off with just two bolts. Oh, ya...........it works really well. LOL
Does the Flyscreen come with mounting hardware. The National web site is confusing and looks like it says to order kit Q143 but that kit costs more than the Flysreen.

No, that is for a switchblade shield, the flyscreen comes with all the hardware, you need N2534 (clear) or N2535 (smoke) - look further down the page.
