Motorcycle rides - at least for me - are for fun and relaxation and you can't relax for a split second on an non-limited autobahn. Also, the level of aggression on the autobahn is sometimes critically high these days.
Yes this is a US spec Tiguan. AQA101 you are right on the money. The moment you start to relax is when you are already in trouble. I spend as much time looking at what's going on behind me as I do in front, as the rear is even more dangerous than the front.
Yep, forget about cages pushing you, you'll never outrun them on the autobahn.
Speed ? pointless. I regularly drive the A3-A9, Frankfurt to Munich, by bike when the forecast are not 100% raining, cage otherwise. It's 250mi I cover them in 3h 45 mins real time with the Harley at 75-80mph. That's because I waste approx 5-10 mins refuelling.
With the bmw, in the middle of the night , very empty roads I could once manage 2h 30mins. Driving like an idiot 150/160mph. But usually it takes me due to traffic around 3hr including a lot of sections at 150mp.
Point is that due to regular traffic, driving at twice the speed you don't save really so much time. I save 25% of the time increasing the risk probably fourfould if we consider stopping times grow exponentially with speed.
You just got real, I haven't been over 100mph for years...I got nothing to prove...unlike some of these wannabes round our way who watch SOA, buy a Harley and ride like *****...don't get me started on those guys
Actually I lied, I did 140MPH last year while testing a 120R engined Wide Glide but I got paid to do that....scared me shitless it did...
