Default Lift this!

I know how many haters that there are out there regarding the tank lifts, but I have to say it's been one of the best mods I've done yet for my '12 FLD. I do a lot of highway riding and use my windshield a lot. There was so much buffeting that it was pure misery with my goggles getting rattled on my head and blurred vision. Then I put lower wind jammers on and they worked great, but my bike ran hot as hades and looked down right fugly. I purchased the 2" lift from DK Customs and installed them today. I took my scooter for a spin and it was awesome! No more lower wind jammers for me. And all that wind hitting my motor getting maximum cooling. Hate if you want, but this mod is *******. Hell yes!

Not bad. At the end of the day you are the only one that needs to be happy with it.

Yessir. I just know how many bikers here get aggravated with the obnoxious buffeting. This is a cheap fix. Hell, even my gas gauge seems to be more accurate now!
The biggest test was we are having very high winds today here in Arizona so it was a perfect test. Good to go.

It looks good. I love my 2" tank lift just for looks alone. I live in a colder climate and never had to worry about heat. Just make sure you know your miles per tank because the lift threw my gas gauge off by an 1/8" or so. I recommend using the trip meter vs gauge. The light comes on at about 1.5gal left vs the .9ish as before.

Kool. Then you should always have more fuel than anticipated by your statement. Weird thing is that my gauge only read 7/8 of a tank when I filled up before the mod. Now it shows 100% full on fill up. Might have corrected things for my bike. I will figure the useage after a couple of fill ups. Thanks for the heads up!

I've always liked tank lifts for their look. It's nice know there are some practical benefits. It's on my list for my bike.

By the way, I love the pile black helmets in the OP's second photograph.

Good to hear it's working well for you!

Your bike is looking good!!!

btw, in the second pic that is quite a collection of helmets in the chair.

When we started making tank lifts, many years ago, we did it for a few reasons-

Looks-get the lines of the tank to match the lines of the backbone and seat better.
Looks & ease of cleaning- Get the rocker covers uncovered
Cooling- Get more air over the engine for better cooling...most TC's see a 10-15 degree drop in temps

It was only later that we realized that by pushing that air under the tank across the engine, less air was coming over the top of the tank resulting in less buffeting for many riders.

I love my 2inch dk custom tank lift. Totally changes the way the fat Bob looks. I also have the dk custom knuckle pegs with quick release pins and am getting the coil/horn relocation kit and knuckle shifting linkage. Quality of products cannot be beat. And with life time warranty on all their products that's pretty damn hard to beat also.
