Decided to go for a ride today since it was so nice. Bike fired right up, i let er warm up and i took off. After bout 5 minutes, i was cruising along around 50mph and she started to sputter. I thought maybe the gas might be bad, but i noticed that every time it sputtered, my speedo would go down to zero. She eventually conked out completely, then i couldnt even get it to turn over....not lights or anything when i turned on the ignition. Is this a possible electrical problem? Please help...gonna be 70 degrees tommorrow!!!
Same thing happened to me last November.
Dealer said it was my V7H Fuel Pack. It ended up that the battery
pos. terminal was loose and was arcing against the cover.
You might want to look there first. I don't know how it came loose,
I had never even took the cover off let alone mess with the battery.
If you just washed your bike, pull your ecm connector apart and make sure it doesn't have water in it. Happened to me before, same symptoms, except the tach quit working.
Thanks for the input, after speaking with a few mechanically inclines co-workers, they all seem to think its the battery. Im gonna pull it out when i get home and taking it to autozone and have them test it. Maybe get a new one!
Did you do any mods over the winter? If so, the last items worked on are usually the first place to look for when you have a problem. If you changed bars, look for pinched wire in switch housings........

I don't think so....persay.
If by battery they mean "electrical" then yeah....it is electrical.......that is kinda like listening to your car make a funny noise under the hoodand your buddy popping the hood and proclaiming it to be the engine!
I don't think a jacked up battery would cause the problems you mentioned........the advise given to you was good.......and somewhere in that chain of though lies the reason.
I just would not be satisfied with simply pulling the battery myself....good luck though.
